Alex Ferguson Lost His Voice After Surgery
Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of Manchester United for 26 years. Now he has talked about a very difficult time in his life. In May 2018, he had bleeding in his brain and needed emergency surgery. After the operation, he could not speak. That was a frightening moment, he told the BBC (the British Broadcasting Corporation) . A therapist helped him. She asked him to write down the names of birds, animals and rivers. Slowly, his voice came back.
Ferguson stopped working as a manager in 2013, after winning 38 trophies with United. The Daily Mail says doctors gave him only a 20 per cent chance of living. Four months after the surgery, he went back to United's stadium to watch a game. He was terrified because he did not know how the fans would feel. But the fans stood up and clapped for him and his wife, Cathy.
Ferguson is now 84 and says he feels quite good. He still goes to many United games. He talked about his health because he has a new book, Games of My Life. It tells the stories of 21 important games in his life. He also told young people not to miss the biggest chance of their lives.
