US Federal Reserve Raises Rates, First Since 2023

The US Federal Reserve raised interest rates on Wednesday for the first time in more than three years, signalling its determination to tackle stubborn inflation. In a unanimous decision, the central bank lifted its benchmark rate by a quarter of a percentage point, to a range of 3.75% to 4%. It was the Fed's first move in either direction since a cut in December 2025, and its first increase since July 2023.
