Starship, a space ship made by SpaceX, entered orbit for the first time on September 28. Orbit is a path around Earth. The test flight started in Texas at 7:48 in the morning. One engine stopped working while the rocket was going up. The team decided it was safe to continue. The ship reached its path around Earth. Earlier flights of the complete rocket did not enter orbit. Those tests began in 2023.
The team ended the flight early. Starship returned to the Pacific Ocean after about three hours. The plan had been to fly for about ten hours. During the flight, the ship put 26 new Starlink V3 satellites into space. These machines are part of a group that provides internet services on Earth. It turned from its side to stand up straight. It slowed down, but there was fire at the water.
SpaceX hopes to carry people and goods to the Moon and Mars. It also wants to use rockets again to make space travel cheaper. These are future plans. The flight showed progress, but it did not prove that Starship could do all these jobs.
