Jorge Messi died on Saturday. He was 68 years old. He was the father of the football star Lionel Messi. He was also his son's agent. An agent helps a player make deals. Jorge died in a hospital in Rosario, in Argentina. His old club said he was ill for months.
Jorge worked in a steel factory. He played football when he was young, but he stopped. About 2000, he took his son to Barcelona for a test. Barcelona liked the boy. Jorge moved to Spain with him. He was his son's agent for many years.
At this year's World Cup, Lionel Messi cried during a game. People asked why. His family said his father was ill. Now his father has died. A big football group in South America sent kind words to Lionel.
