In a modelling report released on Friday, the agency outlined scenarios ranging from 10,000 to upwards of 20,000 infections — a trajectory that could rival the catastrophic 2014–2016 West Africa epidemic, which killed more than 11,000 people across over 28,000 confirmed cases.
